A year at our school

Professional Learning Event at Tuncurry PS

This term, Tuncurry PS had the privilege of hosting a regional professional learning event as part of Dr. Lyn Sharratt’s, Clarity Learning Suite (CLS).

We welcomed teachers, principals, DELs, and the Executive Director, Lisa Muir, along with world-renowned author, educator, and consultant Dr. Lyn Sharratt.

Colleagues travelled from across the Coffs Harbour, Mid Coast Valleys, Hastings, Macleay Valley, Taree and Great Lakes Networks to engage in classroom visits and observe CLS practices in action. The day provided a unique opportunity for school leaders to witness explicit teaching strategies and high-impact practices first-hand.

Our staff and students were commended for their professionalism, generosity, and commitment to learning. Lisa Muir praised the event, stating:

“By hosting the professional learning, opening your classrooms, and leading your team so generously, you created authentic opportunities for leaders to see explicit teaching in action… The Learning Walks and Talks at your school were such a highlight of the program, showcasing high-impact practice and the commitment of your staff to delivering the best for every student.”

Dr. Lyn Sharratt also expressed her appreciation:

“I really appreciated the consistency of powerful practice in all your classrooms. It was a sensational morning… I loved it! Thank you so much for your generosity in helping me with my work!”

We are incredibly proud of our teachers and students, who represented our school and public education with warmth, professionalism, and excellence. Their efforts ensured this event was an inspiring success, leaving a lasting impact on educators across the region.

Heart to Heart

This term, a group of Stage 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the Heart to Heart program, coordinated by Mrs Haddon in partnership with artist Klaya Lowry.

Through guided painting sessions, students explored skills of observation, compassion, trust, relationship building, and strategies to manage stress and anxiety.

The program concluded with a special morning tea, where students proudly shared their finished artworks with their families.

A beautiful celebration of creativity, connection and personal growth!
