School Band

Tuncurry Public School has a long history of providing opportunities for students in the performing arts.

An 'Instrumental Program' runs as part of the extra curricula component of Tuncurry Public.  The 'Instrumental Program' involves music tutors from the community visiting the school on a weekly basis to teach students brass, woodwind or percussion instruments.  Lessons are held during school hours in small groups.

The school's band has grown from the 'Instrumental Program'.

The Bands provide opportunities for all players:

  • Play as member of an ensemble - no matter what their standard or experience

  • Both bands rehearse each week

  • Regular playing opportunities are not restricted to band practice

  • Morning 'Section Practice' and Monday afternoon 'Sight Reading Sessions' provide further playing opportunities for the Senior Band

Performance Opportunities

The Tuncurry Senior School Band takes up performance opportunities playing to different audiences outside school.

The most recent performances were the Taree Eisteddfod and playing for our Senior Citizens.  In-school performances are regular and consist of workshop from visiting bands,  the latest being the Great Lakes College Band and at Infant and Primary School assemblies.

Open to all students

Tuncurry Public recognises the benefits of being active in musical activities and welcomes all students to the 'Instrumental Program'.  New members are always welcome.

Should any student wish to join the instrumental program please contact Ms Kerri Knight on 02 6554 6463.
